These striking birds are covered in dark, scalloped feathers with a white cheek patch and white panels in their tail. Males have a dark grey beak and a pinkish-red ring around the eye, while females have a pale, bone-coloured beak and a grey eye ring. Their wailing call is a familiar sound around Perth as flocks move between feeding and roosting sites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eOur design features a male and female pair perched among banksia, with one tucking into a banksia cone. Banksia is one of their favourite foods, and we loved the way its bold flowers and serrated leaves frame the pair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFun Fact:\u003c\/strong\u003e Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo is named after Ivan Carnaby, a Western Australian naturalist. Marri is a vital food source for Baudin’s, and we wanted to capture that moment mid-snack.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFun Fact:\u003c\/strong\u003e Baudin’s and Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos look almost identical. The easiest way to tell them apart is the bill.
