About Us

Rhiannon started Hyper Finch as a small side hustle in 2018. While juggling a full-time retail job and illustrating in her spare time, she began selling her work at markets and conventions in Sydney and Melbourne. Before long her art grew beyond prints into other creative forms, and as an avid pin collector herself, it was only natural she’d try her hand at pin design. And so Hyper Finch was hatched.

Rhiannon has always been inspired by the natural world around her. Ever since she was a little girl running wild through the bush, she’s looked at the environment with curiosity and admiration. Through her work, she wants to share her love of critters and inspire others to appreciate the wonderful creatures we share the Earth with.

She has a soft spot for birds, lizards and bugs, and loves meeting fellow enthusiasts and creating merch that brings people excitement and joy. She’s always up for a chat and loves hearing about your animal encounters and favourite creatures. She hopes her work encourages people to learn about these amazing animals and their habitats, and to care about their preservation and conservation. She’d also love to support conservation and wildlife groups through fundraising and by sharing their work with others.

Rhys has always been an integral part of Hyper Finch, handling a lot of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps things running smoothly. (That’s a fancy way of saying he has his wife’s back 100% in all her creative endeavours.) He looks after the website and all things tech, and organises and books markets and conventions. He also loves brainstorming with Rhi and helping plan future designs and product releases.

He has a passion for birds and enjoys a good hike or a birdwatching trip. He loves travelling, exploring new places, trying the local food and taking in the scenery. Being part of Hyper Finch means he gets to travel with his wife to cities all over Australia, and even a few overseas. He enjoys chatting with the many people he meets at events and exploring each new area.

Day to day at his home desk, he’s assisted by Hyper Finch’s two branch managers, Quinn and Quill (our pineapple green-cheeked conures), who are responsible for quality control (nibbling things), sharing ideas (squealing loudly) and leaving feedback (pooping on the computer screen).
