The Andean Condor is famous for having the largest wingspan of any raptor, reaching up to around 3.3m. These magnificent vultures soar over the Andes mountain range and the Pacific coast of western South America, gliding for hours on mountain updrafts with barely a flap.

Sadly, the Andean Condor is now listed as vulnerable, and is endangered in several South American countries. Their biggest threats are habitat loss, lack of food and, like many raptors, being shot or poisoned.
