Gang-gang Cockatoo Wooden Earrings
A sweet mismatched pair of Gang-gang Cockatoos perched on native Allocasuarina (she-oak). On the right, the male with his bright red head and wispy crest. On the left, the female in soft grey, with delicate scalloped markings of grey and red across her chest.
Fun fact: The Gang-gang’s call is often described as sounding like a creaky gate or a cork being pulled from a bottle. It’s also the bird emblem of the ACT.
We wanted to do something a little different with our cockatoo earrings, creating mismatched pairs that complement each other by celebrating the differences between males and females. Cockatoos form strong, long-lasting pair bonds and are rarely seen alone, which inspired the whole collection.
Designed and hand assembled in our home studio, these wooden bird earrings are printed on and laser cut from 4mm cherry-veneered MDF, making them super lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear. The front features the full-colour design, with a natural wood finish on the back. Because they’re made from real wood veneer, the grain, colour and texture vary slightly, so every pair is one of a kind.
