Glossy black cockatoos are the smallest of the 5 species of Black cockatoo and are native to Eastern Australia, ranging from Queensland all the way down to the bottom of Victoria. They are dark brown/black in colour and have short crests. Females exhibit yellow patches around her head and red and yellow coloured baring on her tail. Males exhibit a solid red bar on his tail.
We perched this pair on a Scrub sheoak (Allocasuarina paludosa) as Glossies feed almost exclusively on Allocasuarina seeds.
