Harpy Eagle Hard Enamel Pin

The Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) is one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world, measuring close to a metre long with a wingspan of around two metres. It’s found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, from southern Mexico down to northern Argentina, where it hunts sloths and monkeys high in the canopy.

Sadly, these magnificent birds are under threat from deforestation and hunting, and have already disappeared from much of their former range. Their size and bold, unafraid nature around people make them an easy target.

Fun fact: A Harpy Eagle’s rear talons can grow up to 13cm long, about the same length as a grizzly bear’s claws. It’s also the national bird of Panama.
