Red-tailed Black Cockatoos Enamel Pin

Regular price $17.00

The Red-tailed black cockatoo, also known as Banksian- or Banks' black cockatoo, is a large black cockatoo native to Australia and found in dry eucalyptus forests mostly to the north of Australia with some more isolated colonies in the south of the country. These birds are known to be one of the most beautiful birds in the world due to their striking plumage. The female has a fawn coloured beak and an almost starry patterning composed of many yellow dots trailing from her face down to her chest which then forms small yellow banding. She also exhibits extraordinary markings on her tail in which yellow, orange and red banding decorate the tail feathers to create a gradient sun set like appearance. The males, although not as elaborate as the females exhibit a rich red band on the tail and a slick black plumage. their beak is grey in colour.

We perched this pair on a Sydney blue gum (Eucalyptus saligna) which is endemic to eastern Australia ranging from Sydney to Central Queensland.

Absolutely gorgeous

The pin arrived very neatly packed and the pin itself is so stunning. The design and quality is perfect. The photo doesn't do it justice of how nice it looks in person.

Red tailed black cockatoo

This pin was originally out of stock. I emailed Rhi to inquire when they would be back and she emailed me back straight away and then advised she would add me to notify list. She then emailed me when available and I bought one as soon as available and it didn’t disappoint. Really well made and designed and the best pins I’ve been able to find. Highly recommend
