Known for their signature wedge-shaped tail and long full feathered legs, the Wedge-tailed Eagle is Australia's largest bird of prey, with an average wingspan of 2.5m. This beautiful bird is commonly found across mainland Australia, Tasmania, and parts of Papua New Guinea.
A protected species in Australia, the Wedge-tailed Eagle is still shot and poisoned by farmers and are at threat of habitat loss due to tree-clearing. They are also considered endangered in Tasmania.
