The Gang-gang is a medium sized cockatoo endemic to forests and woodlands in coastal regions of south-eastern Australia. Visually, they are a truly unique species and the only cockatoo species to have a 'wispy' crest. Both sexes have a mid grey coloured plumage with light grey tips creating a scalloping pattern. Males have a solid coloured red head and females have more a more prominent scalloping pattern with their breast and underparts showing flecks of red and yellow.
We perched these guys on Black Sheoak (Allocasuarina littoralis), An australian native which produces woody fruits cones that are a favorite food to many cockatoos species.
